Just Another Day - Pillai

“Just another day”, said I.
“Money will deflate”, said a friend.

“Just another day”, said I.
“I will definitely lose my virginity this year”, said a friend.

“Just another day”, said I.
“I am drunk”, said the third.

“Just another day”, said I.
“My girl hasn’t wished me yet”, said the fourth.

“Just another day”, said I.
“India will win the World Cup”, said another.

“Just another day”, said I.
“The world will end soon”, came the reply.

“Just another day”, said I.
“Mad mag will start publishing gossips”, said the last one.

I guess I had had it enough. I gave up. The world of “Happy New Year” wishers had reduced me to the status of a casualty lying in the general ward trying hard to resist their belief. Either I am mad or they are drunk. Come to think of it, both are true.

But, yes it’s another day and yes, yes….its a New Year. As to what it promises to bring still remains a promise. As to whether my friend is gonna get laid (finally), or the world is gonna come to an end is for us to wait and watch.
